Your Data Stays Yours

Ember Notes is designed with privacy at its core. All your notes are stored locally on your device and synced exclusively through your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit infrastructure. We never have access to your notes, and your data never touches our servers.

iCloud Sync

Syncing between your devices is handled entirely by Apple's iCloud service under your own Apple ID. Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Apple. Apple Intelligence

On-device AI features powered by Apple Intelligence — such as smart titles and tag suggestions — run entirely on your device. No data is sent to external servers for these features.

Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) AI

Ember Notes offers optional integration with third-party AI providers (such as OpenAI's ChatGPT and Anthropic's Claude) through our Bring Your Own Key model. When you choose to use these features:

• You provide your own API key directly to the third-party provider's service.
• Any note content you send through these features is transmitted to the respective AI provider's servers.
• This data is subject to the AI provider's own privacy policy and terms of service.
• We display clear warnings within the app before any data is sent to third-party services.
• Your API keys are stored securely on your device and synced only through your iCloud account — we never see them.

Biometric Security

Ember Notes Pro includes app-level and per-note biometric locking via Face ID or Touch ID. Biometric data is handled entirely by Apple's Secure Enclave on your device — Ember never accesses or stores biometric information.
